Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar temple and boating at Chamba Pattan…!!!

22nd Oct, 2020, Thursday…Day (9) Sujanpur Tira-Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar temple-Chamba Pattan-Dhaliara (81 km)

Slept for 8 hours that night at Tira Sujanpur.

Had one of the most sound sleep of the trip inside the car. Slept at 10 pm and woke up at 6 am. Sulabh Complex near bus stand came handy, freshened up, nice cup of tea and a walk inside Chaugan.

Found Tira Sujanpur one of the best places to sleep inside the car. A nice happening place, beautiful Chaugan, and a fort with splendid views. Shall be back again some times.

Left Sujanpur at around 9 am.

The drive to Nadaun and further to Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev temple was good…nice smooth road, crisscrossing River Beas many times, nice songs, just loved it.

Stopped at this place for a while. Cool breeze was blowing. A shopkeeper was frying fresh mix veg pakodas on a wood fired earthen chullah, loved eating those with a cup of hot tea.

Situated right on the banks of River Beas, Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev temple is an ancient temple.

People from Punjab and Himachal keep visiting the place all through the year. However, due to Covid-19, there were fewer people this time. The views of the river are beautiful from the place.

Since the entire trip was based on “Trudging the Turquoise Beas”, the next in line was “Chamba Pattan”, which I came to know only during this trip.

The beautiful place and Chamba Pattan Bridge is just 10 kilometers from Jawalamukhi and Dehra Gopipur. There is a boat which ferries people from one shore to another @Rs.10- only.

A pre-wed shoot was going on and the locals told me the place was very famous for day picnicking, boating and pre-wed shoots. Loved sitting on the shore watching the river flow calmly underneath the two kilometers wide bridge followed by a smooth boat ride.

Drove to Jawalamukhi during the night.

The place was way too overcrowded to my liking. Drove little further and found a nice dhaba near Dhaliara. Had nice dinner and thought of staying for the night inside the car in its premises.

However, at around midnight, the dhaba closed down completely and all lights off. Did not feel all that secure, drove the car a little further, parked in front of an all night filling and slept inside MY HOME ON WHEELs for one more night……..!!!
